Lucrezia Borgia 3D was the world’s first LIVE 3D opera and screened in selected digital cinemas across the UK and Ireland on 23 February 2011.
The multi-talented artist and film-maker Mike Figgis, best-known for films such as the Oscar-winning ‘Leaving Las Vegas’, made his operatic debut with this new production of Donizetti’s rarely seen opera. Lucrezia Borgia follows the complex relationship between a mother and her illegitimate son, exploring the brutal nature of Machiavellian politics and the struggle for power. First screened live in 3D, it is now available as recorded content for cinemas worldwide (ex GAS).
